Overview

Scooby-Doo: Monster Mayhem immerses guests of all ages in the beloved franchise’s storyline, offering photo opportunities, interactive elements, and a themed café with special food items. The experience is designed to capture the essence of Scooby-Doo, tapping into nostalgia for longtime fans while introducing the franchise to a new generation. The space features both family-friendly elements and designs that cater to older audiences, creating a seamless transition between age groups. Guests can enter for free, with activities available for an additional charge.

Ideation, Zoning & Modelling

After conducting a range of research I developed a bubble, zoning and circulation diagram with personas. These diagrams aided in the design and location of elements within the venue, Downsview Supply Depot in Toronto, ON.

Then I created a dimensioned floor plan with each of the zones located and a 3D model. Using the SketchUp model, I made a diagram to highlight the tiered ticketing of the zones.

Brand Identity & Visualizations

There are many brand identities for Scooby-Doo so instead, the chosen colours and fonts are meant to feel like they exist within the Scooby-Doo World. The branding has that instantaneous connection to the IP with the colour palette curated from the Mystery Machine and reminiscent motifs and patterns.

To better visualize what Scooby-Doo: Monster Mayhem looks like I developed mockups of each of the zones. These are four examples: the Mystery Machine photo opportunity, Captain Cutler's Mini Putt, the Phantom Virus Arcade and the Sea Beast's Lazer Tag.

Detailed Door Chase Room

Guests enter into a door-chase room in the Scooby-Doo and the Phantom Shadow exhibit. Some doors open to rooms within the mansion that have clues about the monster. Other doors open but only to reveal a monster digitally on a screen. This zone recreates the door chase scenes popular in Scooby-Doo. The rooms are all connected and there’s space behind the end of the hallway to allow guests to quickly enter/exit through different doors.
